The Arroyo Colorado starts near Mission, Texas and meanders for about ninety miles before flowing into the Laguna Madre, that body of water between the mainland and Padre Island. The Villa is nestled on the south bank of the Arroyo seven miles inland from the Laguna Madre. This area is famous for some of the best fishing, hunting and bird watching in Texas.
Hunting is a popular sport and The Villa is a friendly host to hunters. Game animals include whitewing and mourning dove, ducks, geese, turkey, javelina, whitetail deer, nilgai and more.
The Laguna Atascosa Wildlife Refuge is a 97,000 acre refuge, home to vast varieties of flora and fauna indigenous to the area. This refuge boasts more sightings of different kinds of birds than any other wildlife refuge. It is about 20 minutes from The Villa.
South Padre Island is about 45 minutes away.
